So, I am still awake (barely) at 3am to write this blog post because an alarm rang on one of the servers in my house telling me, twice, that TWO of my ZTecNet servers, both running on the COX ISP, went offline within 37 minutes of each other. Both servers are in South Windsor, CT, where this blackout took place.
The Moon Server was effected first, at exactly 1:55:43 am. About a half hour later, the Neptune server (along with my internet, cable tv, and telephone service) went out completely at exactly 2:31:53 am. I hopped on the internet with my cell phone to investigate. I glanced at my AIM buddy list to notice that all of my friends had already been signed off.
My internet, along with the Neptune server returned at 2:55 am, with the same IP. Moon has yet to return as of 3am EST.
I happened to have my cell phone on hand so I gave my house a try. I got a recording: “We’re sorry, due to telephone facility trouble your call cannot be completed at this time, will you try your call again later. COX Communications. Beep Beep Beep….”
After my internet came back online I figured that since everyone got disconnected, maybe their routers would be stupid and need to be reset before their internet worked again, so I tried a speedtest. Here’s my result:

Not too bad. The most I’ve ever gotten was 30mbps down, 5mbps up. This is a typical nighttime speed, however.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see this one on the news.
Going to catch some sleep. Have a good one!
UPDATE:
I was awakened yet again at 3:40am by yet another alarm sounding.. This time, it was a good thing. The Moon server has come back online. I just can’t seem to get to sleep. -.-
